Taylor, TX

Yesterday I had the pleasure of making the short drive to Taylor, TX.

My wife and I decided to make the drive there because I had remembered driving through at night and that they had a nice old downtown. When we started to drive into town I wasn’t sure if I had remembered correctly, but then when we hit downtown I knew I was right.

We started to drive north on main and just north of downtown this house caught our eye .

So then we started exploring and it was incredible how many old Craftsman and Victorian homes were in this town. If you drive just west of main street you’ll find homes built anywhere from 1860 to 1940. Many of them have been restored but you can find some that you could restore yourself for a great price. Here Comes The Development

Looks like they are going to start building again Austin. Also, goodbye convenient Taco Cabanna =0(

Post Properties is thinking of build a new apartment complex at Lamar and Riverside, I know, it’s so easy to get around on South Lamar already. Post is currently building a new project at 1500 S Lamar.

Personally it needs to happen, yes it will create more traffic along Lamar which is already has too much, but the town needs it. Apartments are almost 100% occupied which is driving prices up, making it tough for anyone to afford something they want to live in.This is the price we have to pay for living in such a great city.

Pho Saigon Noodlehouse

One restaurant I happen to be frequenting at least once a week if not more lately is Pho Saigon. All the broths I have had are delicious and the options that you can put in it are over the top. Plus they have several other Vietnamese dishes for you to try. If you are ever in the mood for Pho and you haven’t been there, I recommend you make the trip up north. You won’t be disappointed.

Coxville Zoo Part 1

From 1939 to 1970 Austin’s Zoo was the Coxville Zoo. Below is the old gate that use to lead into it. The old zoo as well as the cabins, or whats left of them, is located in what is now Walnut Creek Park. Walnut Creek Park trails are mainly used for mountain biking, so watch out if you are on foot, be polite and move out of their way.
